Kaze no Stigma

'Kaze no Stigma', or 'Stigma of the wind', is a really wierd anime that reminds me way too much of 11 eyes. It's set in a Japan from this kind of era where certain people have 'magic' powers. The Kannagi family are the elite Enjutsu, fire users. Kazuma was born into the head family and automatically the heir to the Kannagi family. However after being easily beaten by a 12year old girl his father disowned him. After some years training Kazuma returns to Japan as a Fuujutsu, someone who can control the wind. He proves himself by beating his father and the Kannagi heir, Ayano. However, when Kazuma's brother, Ren, gets involved in a family feud Kazuma's skills are hired to save him. From then on we basically see Kazuma get more and more jobs from the Kannagi family and watch Ayano get more and more annoyed at his involvement.

It is fairly clichéd, the way Ayano materialises her sword is almost like a magical girl anime and the possibilities of Kazuma's powers are rather ridiculous. The situations the land them selves in sometimes seem pretty ridiculous too... But it is quite fun! Especially when Ayano's friends start narrating her love when she's not listening! The plot might not be the most intense thing ever, alas, I truly enjoy it.
I think the art is really nice. When you have people throwing balls of fire about I'm sure there's millions of ways to make it look rubbish, but Gonzo make it look very realistic -well as realistic as 2D fire can be.
The people are quite sweet too. When Kazuma's eyes go blue they do look a bit silly, but the rest of the time everyone's cool. They have a nice rainbow assortment of hair and a cute school uniform so I can't make complaints about the character design.
While Kazuma may look cool, he is actually really annoying. He never seems to show any real emotion and it's so frustrating! I just want to see him break down in tears because currently he just doesn't seem real! Ayano on the other hand is always getting embarrassed and angry and generally she's just such a funny character! But then, I do love the stereotypical tsundere!
In conclusion, I like it. I'm not mad about it due to a lack of intensity (and good-looking guys), but I will be sure to finish the series soon. I do love the well animated fight scenes and the comedic romance, but it just hasn't left a big enough impact on me!!
