AIR The Movie

I hope every one had a good Christmas, I know I did!! I got some new anime and manga too that I can't wait to tell you about! Also, this is my last post of 2012! So I wish you all a happy new year and hope you will keep reading in 2013!
I completely forgot about this movie! I watched the anime long before my blog was around and intended to watch the movie then to but while surfing the net recently I found it again! since it's not a squeal to the anime I figured I'd review it! But really, you should watch the anime, it's really good! Now, back on track about the movie.
So basically the movie is about a traveler  Yukito. He's a lone wanderer who picks up cash by performing a little puppet show. One time he stops by a town with the intent of earning some money at the Summer Festival they hold. But he is soon spotted by Misuzu who gets him to help her do her field work in exchange for a meal. Misuzu's field work is about the legend of the winged beings who lived in ancient times. As we, the viewer, find out more about the tragic story of the winged being who was forbidden to love we watch as Misuzu's life replays the story. It's really sweet how we get to see a bit of the legend and a bit of Misuzu, the two stories where perfectly matched and such a heart-breaker!! The overall effect is almost haunting, but so sweet at the same time! It's hard to explain. although the idea of love is a bit dodgy, it all seemed a bit too sudden to be true.

Hellsing

So this'll be the last post before Christmas!! So in advance, Merr Christmas!! I hope you all enjoy your holidays!! :)
The Hellsing Organisation. Supported by the British Government and run by the Hellsing family, this organization's mission is to put a stop to non-human activity. I always have a natural affinity to anime based in England, I'm not entirely sure why because other than a government and queen, there is no reference to the fact that they're in England! So anyway, this Hellsing Organisation is essentially a vampire extermination group and as a new breed of vampire begins to reign havoc Hellsing has to fight hard. These vampires are a bit weird as they have like microchips in their necks, so they're like cyborg vampires or something! The anime follows two particular members of Hellsing: Alucard and Victoria. Alucard is the strongest vampire in existence, he's like crazy strong. I know he's a vampire but there is a reason he's working for Hellsing, I just don't know it yet.... Then there's Hellsing's vampire no.2, Victoria. She was a Police Girl until Vampires attacked her unit and Alucard changed her rather than killing her. She's really cool, she uses really big guns and has super cute fangs! wait, I'm not talking about the plot any more, am I? Well, I suppose I don't really know the plot, it was more like, bang bang kill the vampire. Hmm, well it is entertaining! But I do want to see more plot.
It's a 2001 anime and it really shows it's age. The animation is a bit stiff and the colours are so drained. What is this not-HD? But the art style is nice! I already mentioned Victoria's cute fangs, but there is also alucard's face shaper and all the exciting settings which are the result of a good art style despite it's age.

Kimi ni Todoke

Kimi ni Todoke is one of the cutest romances out there. I looked for the anime after falling head over heels in love with the manga and I'm glad to say, the anime does not disappoint and it follows the exact same plot (for now at least). The story is based around Sawako and Kazehaya. Sawako has no friends, she terrifies  every one with her resemblance to a character in a horror movie and every one believes she is cursed and can see ghosts. Kazehaya is complete opposite, boys want to be his friend and all the girls love him, he's a natural people person. But when these two are put in the same class Kazehaya finds it impossible to leave Sadako alone and begins to help her become part of the class. Sawako makes friends with Yano, Yoshida and Ryo and before she knows it, her feelings for Kazehaya become greater than admiration and respect and Kazehaya finds himself much too embarrassed in front of Sawako. But they are both too innocent! It's not all good though! Because of Kazehaya's popularity, Sawako quickly makes enemies, a concept that she can't quite grasp. With the rumours and the misunderstandings Sawako slowly becomes more open to other people. It's a super cute tale of acceptance, friendship and love. It develops really slowly, but that's what makes it special! I just love this plot line so much!

Deadman Wonderland

Deadman Wonderland, the only privately owned prison which doubles up as a theme park to earn a profit. After being framed for the violent murder of all his classmate Igarashi Ganta is sent to Deadman Wonderland with the death sentence. For the inmates everything is controlled by cast points. Cast points are used to buy food, drink and with enough of them, years of your sentence or candies to delay your execution. They are earned by performing life threatening shows for an audience. But Ganta isn't a normal inmate. He has a special power of blood manipulation; the same power that was used to kill all his classmates. People with this power must battle each other in a last man standing style fight. The winner gets cast points and candy to prolong their life. The loser (if they are left alive) must face a gruesome penalty game where a piece of their anatomy is removed. It gets VERY gory. As Ganta seeks revenge on the 'red man' who killed his classmates he meets Shiro, an unbelievably strong girl but soon remembers her from his childhood. Although she's obviously not human, it's not yet clear what she is! I have said in numerous reviews that I don't like gore and this anime has me constantly squirming; but in general, the supernatural aspect to it means that's it all cool. I just really dislike the penalty games...

Akumu Chan

Guess what I found, a drama that's NOT a romance!! I can finally stop my run of similar sounding drama reviews with this Jdrama; Akumu Chan. The drama is about dreams and premonitions and here's some fun trivia: akumu is Japanese for night mare! And this is hot off the press guys! Only 7 episodes and counting!
So anyway, the plot is about Yuiko a transfer student at elementary school. Her home room teacher Ayami pretends she is the perfect teacher, always smiling and being friendly to every one. But really, she's a bit of a psychopath so to her Yuiko is just a bother. But it really becomes a bother to her when Yuiko starts telling Ayami about her nightmares. More than just nightmares, Yuiko has prophetic dreams and with her grandfather's research her dreams can be recorded and watched. After convincing Ayami to help, the trio try to understand Yuiko's symbolic dreams and prevent misfortune. Every week there is a different person to save, but they don't feel like stand-alone episodes because of the underlying plot (e.g. Ayami's lucid dreams and sleep walking and Yuiko's grand father's assistance). In fact, so much more gets added per episode I struggled to slim it down for you! I like the mix of having one problem resolved every episode while still having an ongoing plot. It stops me getting dangerously addicted to the series and keeps it quite fun because with out something going right the whole drama could get really depressing. Most of the prophecies are about Yuiko's class mates but the dreams are really rather frightening with murder and kidnapping and the such! It's almost disturbing!

Polar Bear's Cafe

This is quite possibly the most random anime I've ever watched, and I've watched PLENTY of random anime. How do I even review such a thing? It starts when Panda (the panda) is instructed by his mum to get a job. But since relaxing takes up so much time he struggles to find a job to suit him. (I understand your problem panda.) After many declines Panda gets a part-time job at the zoo. Job title: part-time panda. He has to work alongside the full-time panda being a panda. But he really liked the cafe near his house and even though he was declined a job there he still visits everyday. The cafe is run by Polar Bear (the polar bear) and serves humans and animals a like with his part-timer Sasako (almost the only human!). And from there onwards it's just like a slice-of-life anime.... just featuring talking animals! Panda, Polar Bear and Penguin (the penguin) have quirky personalities and funny stories to share. Although there is no real plot the adorable factor is off the scale! But with 39 episodes and counting, I really can't see me completing the series. Surely they'll run out of things to babble about?

Shakugan no Shana

I'm really happy to see you guys using my suggestions button!! I spent a long time making that so I'm glad it's getting some use. Keep them coming guys!
Has any one read my 11 eyes review? Because Shakugan no Shana has a really similar idea. Any one who has seen both would probably agree with me there. Shakugan no Shana is also about the idea of parallel worlds, but the monsters escape into our world. It's kind of hard to explain, but basically the idea is that these monsters come to our world but humans just can't perceive it. These monsters are called Guze no Tomogara and they feed off of the 'power of existence'. Fighting the Tomogara are the flames haze. The result of a human making a contract with a god to keep the two worlds in balance. Obviously the flame haze can't protect every one- people are still eaten- but the sudden disappearance of a person could disrupt the world balance so people are replaced with 'torches', replicas of the humans with a much shorter lifespan. They are slowly forgotten until they just disappear, which is a rather horrible thought really. So you can imagine how freaky it must of been when Yuji Sakai was told that he, in fact, was a torch. But unlike any other torch Yuji can see the battles against the Tomogara, he can remember those who are forgotten and he can tell who's a torch. Because he's a Mistes, a special kind of torch who contains a power with in him. A bit like a lucky dip, there's no way to tell what kind of power he has, it's all a bit weird.

Chocolate

Todays review was recommended by Normal, and no, it's not a food review. Also known as 'Zen, Warrior Within', Chocolate is a Thai film. First Thai review guys! I'm spreading toffeeish over the world!!
Anyway, on with the review. Chocolate is a Martial Arts movie and I must confess, it's not a genre that I particularly like because usually they are just filled with seemingly pointless fight scenes. But I found Chocolate to be a very emotional story! Zin was in a relationship with Yakuza boss no.8, until she fell in love with Masashi, rival Yakuza member. When she leaves no.8 for Masashi he shoots his own foot as a warning of what will happen if she sees Masashi again. Soon after Zin falls pregnant and convinces Masashi to return to Japan to make things safer for the child. She names her daughter Zen and finds out that she is very autistic. As Zen grows older she gets lightening quick reflexes and an obsession with martial arts. Alas, the sad bit is when Zin gets Cancer, but is to poor to afford the treatment. Mom (Zin's kind of adopted son person) finds a notebook from when Zin was in the Yakuza of all the people who owe her money. Unknowing of it's origins Mom and Zen go off to collect the money in hopes to cure Zin. Naturally, when no.8 finds out about this he isn't too happy and so we reach the climax. Zen has to use all her ninja-like skills to fight of no.8's gang and protect her mother, Masashi arrives from Japan in time to join in as well. Naturally, I can't tell you how it ended.... BUT IT WAS SO AWESOME!!

Takoyaki

As you probably saw I bought this at expo. BUT I FORGOT TO TAKE A PICTURE!! So I had to try a picture that looked like the Takoyaki I had!
I bought this on a whim with out really knowing what I was buying. It was only £5 for 8 dumplings after all! But now I have done a little research over on wiki so I actually know what I was eating! The batter is wheat based and I believe mine had octopus filling. The sauce is Takoyaki specific and is then covered with mayonaise, shredded seaweed and dried shredded tuna.
The wheat based batter is really thick. Not a particuarly pleasant texture either. It was kind of sticky and a bit slimey. Obviously, being wheat based, there wasn't much taste to it, but you can taste the fat it was cooked in...

MCM EXPO SPECIAL: Oct.2012

I'm not going to review anything today. Since yesterday was MCM, I thought I'd do a special post all about it!! If you don't like it or want me to change the way it's done, there's always the suggestion box!! :3
(photos, video and reviews will be added as soon as I can!!!)

For those who don't know, MCM is the largest comic convention in England. It's does anime, manga, video games, Japanese food, comics, films.... the list goes on and it's FULL of cosplayers. So it's pretty much heaven for my blog! It runs for two weekends a year: in May and October. But I usually only go for the Saturday.

Kino's Journey

A strange philosophical anime about Kino, a boyish traveller and Hermes, her talking motorbike. Together they journey through a mystical land full of unique countries of all kinds of traditions. In all these lands Kino appreciates the beauty of the world in both it's brutality and oppression and it's compassion and generosity. Kino only stays in each place for three days and with the variety of the lands Kino visits there's an episodic feel. Kino past and character development don't mean much and the fact that Hermes talks isn't explained and it isn't really plot based. But all the unique countries and curious morals lead to an exciting anime regardless. I especially liked the land of books where a library of all the books of the world were kept, but they only keep books that are deemed as safe reading -Children's books or How to books. But a vigilante group are at work publishing 'illegal' books by the Author. "What if the reality is that this is the world of the book" think about that!

Asura's Wrath

This is only my second time reviewing a video game. So look kindly upon it! Especially as this game is so weird and has so much in it!!
Combining religious figures, science-fiction and all different kinds of game play Asura's Wrath is difficult to explain. With half of the game being made of interactive cut scenes and being set in with episode structures I would almost call this an 'interactive anime' rather than a video game. The story is based in a strange past world where space travel is much more advanced, the earth-like planet Gaea has been over-populated and polluted and is now attacking the humans (yes, the earth started to attack the humans) in the form of relentless numbers of Gohmas, impure beasts. The only beings strong enough to  destroy the Gohma are the demigods, mainly the eight Guardian Generals. One of the eight Generals, Asura, is framed to have killed the emperor. His wife is killed, his daughter (the priestess) is captured for her power and Asura is sent to Naraka, a barren realm for the afterlife. With some coaxing from the 'Golden Spider', Asura climbs back to the realm of mortals with vengeance in mind.

My Wife is a Gangster

Just finished watching My Wife is a Gangster and I don't really know what to say... Eun Jin is a legendary gang boss for her shocking skill with a knife, despite being female. But even her menacing threats can't help her elder sister when she is taken to hospital with cancer, little hope of recovering. However Yu Jin (Eun Jin's sister) wants to see some things through before she passes away. Just a small request for her sister. Get married. But not all was wasted as Eun Jin then finds Soo Il, a push-over who was stupid enough to agree to marry Eun Jin. Now they are awkwardly married with lots of abuse thrown at Soo Il. That would be the end, if Yu Jin wasn't so spoiled. Unsatisfied with her sisters awkward marriage, she now confides to Eun Jin that she's always wanted kids. So Eun Jin literally forces herself upon Soo Il to try get pregnant as soon as she can. Eun Jin gets successfully pregnant and now she's set the task of looking after the unborn while being a gang boss.

Kujibiki Unbalance (TV series)

Chihiro Enomoto and his childhood friend Tokino Akiyama are starting at their new school. In the prestigious Rikkyouin High School everything is decided by lottery, so the pair start the year by becoming President and Vice-President. With this role comes great expectations since a school as renowned as Rikkyouin expect grand achievments from every council member, oh and if they can't meet up to standards the whole Council get expelled. That includes President, Vice-President, secretary (Renko Kamishakuji) and treasurer (Koyuki Asagiri). These four, (with the help of Kaoruko Yamada) have to complete all their missions to gain approval from the current Council. Obviously, these tasks are not for an normal council and thus are  completed in most abnormal ways. Mostly Kamishakuli's curious inventions using Yamada's head as the control box. Which I think will remain funny thought out the episodes! Also, there is a mysterious relationship between Chihiro and the present President (Ritsuko): are they childhood friends or is there more to it? I still need to find out. But they don't put enough focus onto it to make it interesting. Really, I can't see the plot progressing past the council comically completing missions. But we'll see!

K-ON (movie)

The K-ON movie is a direct sequel to the second season of K-ON!!, so before you do ANYTHING watch all of K-ON! and K-ON!! because it's such an amazing anime. I wasn't writing reviews when I watched it, but if I was it would've got 5 pies. So go watch it. Now.
OK, so you've watched it? ALL of it? Good. Now on with the review:
So, the movie is all about the graduation of Mio, Mugi, Yui and Ricchan who are all members of the light music club. The light music club (who's only other member is Azusa from the year below) is actually a band called Hokago Teatime (after school teatime)! But with all the club members leaving Azusa behind they decide they need to prepare something special for her. However, despite they're best efforts, they get distracted and organise a graduation trip instead! The destination (chosen by their pet turtle): LONDON! And if I'm honest with you, I think my favourite part of this film is the fact that they visited my country in sites I've seen myself! So, watch this film to see what fun the girl's can get up to in good ol' England, sort out Asuza's secret present and play a few gigs in between. Nothing serious, no plot twists or highly strung emotions. Just some girls enjoying their final days at high school.

Secret Garden

Guys! I really need some more recommendations!! Leave them in the comments below!
Another drama based around a rich man and a poor woman. Just like 90% of the drama's I have watched, but really, it can't get old can it!! Gil Ra Im is a stunt woman and proud of it, even if it doesn't give her much money, Kim Joo Won is a multi-millionaire CEO who looks down on every one. But when he mistakes the stunt double with the actual actress he is shocked by his profound interest in her. Thus starts they're strange kind of relationship which can never work out because of they're difference in lifestyles. Kim Joo Won's feelings become even more prominent when Gil Ra Im becomes acquainted with her ultimate idol Oska. Jealousy runs wild and suddenly Gil Ra Im is involved in some pretty complicated love affairs. Things only get more confusing when series of events lead to Kim Joo Won and Gil Ra Im swapping bodies. Rich man, poor woman, I've seen before. As have I seen all the misunderstanding that occur in such situation. I've even watched gender-bender dramas! But NEVER have I seen a body-swap! I can't decide if that novelty is entertaining or just silly.... but it is certainly unique.

Itazura na Kiss

I may be a tad obsessed with this because I'm now reviewing the anime that goes with the dramas Playful Kiss and It started with a kiss. I wasn't going to review it originally, but a friend of mine who doesn't usually watch anime told me it was really good, so I couldn't resist!! But now I have to right up the plot of this show for a third time.....
Kotoko-chan is in F class, the bottom of the school and she fancies the greatest guy in school: Irie-kun, best looking and smartest in the school. He is not, however, the kindest as we find out when he coldly rejects Kotoko-chan's without even a second glance. To make things worse, she goes to her newly built house only for it to collapse in an earth quake. Now Kotoko-chan is homeless and heartbroken, but her father does find them somewhere to stay, at the house of an old friend. Upon arriving Kotoko-chan is shocked to see Irie-kun living there. With Irie-kun's mother's support Kotoko-chan decides to go full out to try win the heart  of Irie-kun. Although the start is horribly cheesy it becomes a very cute tale of romance. The things that happen and the feelings that are shown, don't seem particularly unusual so it feels like you can relate to what's happening!

May 18 (Splendid Holiday)

Back to school soon. Yay. Good bye summer! On another note, did you know I have done more than 52 consistent reviews? That's right, it's been over a year since I returned to blogging!
My Dad lent me this film (in all it's limited edition box set glory) saying that it wasn't that good. But, based on true events May 18  is most tragic, tear-jerking tale I've ever witnessed!! No joke about the fact that this is the first time I've actually cried at a piece of media! May 18 is the date in which the citizens of Gwangju, Korea, took arms against the army. The events are true but obviously the characters have been made with the purpose of making every one cry. Brothers Min-woo and Jin-woo are living life quite happily despite having lost their parents (an added detail which I hate for it's cliché). But when soldiers are sent to beat down supposed conspirators from colleges Jin-woo leads his school in protesting. The soldiers are depicted mowing down any college student they see while many others get caught in the middle. It's difficult to pass judgement on this because I know nothing about the incident myself I couldn't say if they've exaggerated it or omitted important facts to make it a greater sob story.

The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye

I'm back from summer vacation so now I urgently need to catch up on some reviews! Enjoy!
With a talking tank (Bogie), Honaka travels the barren desserts making a living as a 'jack-of-all-trades' doing anything except murder. Nicknamed the sword dancer for her amazing quick draw skills she soon picks up the interest of Iks a mysterious man she found in the dessert. In this future world of robots, giant bugs and crazy powers Honoka almost seems ordinary. Until her bandanna falls off and we see she has a third eye. A third eye should make her part of 'The Third', the elite beings with brains like the internet, but Honoka's third eye is blue not red making her an outcast from every where. Quite where that takes the plot I'm not sure, but there is a lot of mecha fights and comedy!
Well that looks a lot like I hate the plot, but that's not true, I just can't think of any way to make the plot sound not freakishly weird. In fact in some parts it's really philosophical! Add that to the comedy romance and action - so even with the strange context the plot is good! The thing I really hate though is the cheesy narration. It's completely unnecessary for some random guy to be explaining Honoka's thoughts and feelings every 10 seconds!!! Whenever the narrator starts rambling on I feel like quitting on the show entirely which is a real shame!

The Castle of Cagliostro

This film is a timeless classic, over 30 years old and still very loved! It's part of the Lupin III franchise which I haven't actually seen any of, but I don't think that limited my enjoyment at all. It's very clear through out the film who every one is. Lupin III is a notorious thief, and with his friend Daisuke Jigen  they rob billions of dollars from the national casino. The celebrations are short lived though, because it's not long before Lupin realises that what they've stole is actually counterfeit money. That's when they feel the need to attack the Castle of Cagliostro. Not only is it the centre of the counterfeit money, they also have an imprisoned damsel and a hidden treasure. But with all those things to find Lupin gets himself into a lot of trouble!
A humorous action-packed adventure with just a sprinkle of romance, it's a brilliant mix of genres from Hayao Miyazaki. This is actually Miyazaki's first feature length production which just says something about what a brilliant man he is. The comedy is almost slapstick like, they even use cheesy sound effects! Probably because it's so old, but that doesn't make it not funny, it's not like it's tacky comedy! However, the romance is a lot cooler than the comedy, it's quite subtle and there's no reason to believe in it's sincerity, but watching Clarisse cling to the hope that Lupin brings is so sweet!!
The art is dated but the quality is still good! Lupin's face resembles that of a monkey but Clarisse is every bit the beautiful dame! She has brilliant blue eye's that sparkle really well, I especially liked it when she was drugged and her eyes looked dead but when the drugs wore of a slow glimmer crept in to them. Brilliant. But what was really brilliant was all the contraptions. Miyazki's trademark steam powered boats and flying contraption and also in this film cogs. The amount of detail that went into the clock tower must have been tiring enough but to then have a whole fight scene on the moving cogs is the best thing in this film!!
Lupin III is a very well thought out character I think, although not originally conceived for this film, he has been portrayed as a man of many qualities. Despite being dubbed a playboy by his friend, his relationship with Clarisse stays very pure and caring. He may be superhuman in the things that he does but he is still quite clumsy and not all his plans work. This makes him very interesting, believable yet impossible at the same time!! And his friendship with Jigen is just brilliant!! They stay together even with Lupin's ridiculous plans!
Okay, I may have over-useed this word a bit, but this film is brilliant!! I can't think of a word more fitting. The fight scenes and car chases are not only well animated, but also super fun to watch. The plot has everything you could possibly include in a crime story without complicating it. And, well, it's Miyazaki!! That says it all really. I'm so glad I finally got round to watching this!!

Playful Kiss

I did say I'd review this. Remember? When I reviewed the Taiwanese version "It started with a kiss..."! Well, now I have watched it and really, I can't see why this one's more popular... Obviously the plot is basically the same but things happen a lot quicker. Oh Ha Ni leaves a note in Baek Seung Jo's locker but is publicly humiliated when he returns the letter with corrections marked on. Her troubles only get worse when her new house falls down in a minor earthquake so her and her father are forced to stay under the protection of her father's friend who, as fate would have it, is Seung Jo's dad. But unlike It started with a kiss, the plot quickly progresses to when they enter University and we see a lot of Seung Jo's caring side (read It started with a kiss review for a more detailed summary). The nature of this drama is very believable, ignoring the scene when Oh Ha Ni's house falls down. It's a bit too believable really and decisively neutral. Where's the drama? The exaggerated reactions? The too sad/happy moments that make you scream at the computer? I'll tell you where, in the longer plot. They've made everything happen too fast so there's no tension, which is a shame because this show has so much to offer. Namely the acting.

Gantz

With nudity and gruesome deaths this anime is really not for the light-hearted. It's very hard-hitting in many ways. It's all about death aliens and boobs, in fact, it starts with two teens getting hit by a train while trying to save a drunk who had fallen into the track. Despite the fact that we clearly see their heads rolling, they didn't die. Instead they got whisked away by some creepy black blob into a room full of people who should have died. Next thing you know said creepy black blob (named Gantz) whisks every one away with the mission of blasting some kid aliens into pieces. Not too mention how messed the aliens are! That's your basic plot line. Just add boobs! Completely unnecessary boobs and perverted scenes that totally kill the anime for me. I swear, the girl (Kei Kishimoto) is just how Gantz makes money and I don't like that. But in the end, this show really isn't aimed at me.
The show should be renamed Kei Kishimoto and aliens, as that's all there is. The art is quite poor really. All the characters have such simple designs and the aliens just look stupid. The spring onion alien? Really? Have the producers really no better ideas than that? Since this is a violent anime though, there is lots of fight scenes of varying levels, the animation is quite sharp. The animation used for Gantz's transportation device is quite nifty, a bit like knitting a person.

Nodame Cantabile

I haven't really ventured much into Japanese dramas much, but I have heard a lot about the general idea of them. Instead of tear-jerking love stories and soap opera tragedies j-dramas are full of slapstick comedy and silliness. This particular drama is based in a music college that Chiaki attends. Originally bought up in Europe, he had to move back to Japan when his parents split up. Somewhere on the way though, his plane had an emergency landing and he feel out of a boat, so with those haunting memories he is now stuck in Japan (easily the worst bit of the plot, a plane crash AND drowning!). He's from the piano division and his known through out the school for his brilliant piano but also his astounding good-looks. Nodame is also plays piano at college but she's a freshman and labelled under-achiever. The two are set the task of playing a duet together and as they are neighbours begin to spend a lot of time together. Thus the two obviously, and quite suddenly, fall in love (really, it was like they blinked and suddenly appreciated one another!). But Chiaki doesn't want to be a pianist, he wants to conduct, so when a famous conductor comes to school Chiaki immediately wants to be his pupil. The madness that follows would have to be seen to be believed. The plot has innumerable flaws and the romance doesn't have enough drama in it but it is unbelievable funny. I just sometimes wonder if I'm laughing at bits that are supposed to be funny....

Steins;Gate

I contemplated not doing a review for this anime because it's so hard to form a review of this, but I'll try! The plot is all based around Rintaro Okabe, who dubs himself as Hououin Kyouma, the mad scientist. He has his own little imaginary world where 'the organisation' rules society and is constantly sending agents after him. He has a 'secret lab' where him and his few friends play along with his conspiracies and play about with their 'phone microwave (name subject to change)'. But convinced that they just sent a banana into the past the whole gang are whisked to the border of imaginary and reality. It's difficult to trust anything that's going on since the main character likes to play pretend. I think that this is a brilliant idea as it means your constantly thinking and questioning what you're watching. But it makes it kind of complicated as well, especially the first episode, I almost didn't want to continue to episode 2 because there was no sense at all in episode 1!! However, I'm happy to report that things pick up a lot from episode 2 onwards. It is still very illogical and confounding, but in a more entertaining way.

Welcome to the NHK

"N.H.K." the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation. Or the Japanese Hikikomori Coporation. According to Satou's hallucinations it's all the N.H.K's fault that he's become a Hikikimori. Secluded to his room Satou hasn't talked to any one in four years. That's when Misaki comes along, claiming that Satou is perfect for her 'project' they start they're counselling sessions to save Satou from his seclusion. Then things get out of hand, Satou lies to his mum and now he needs a job and girlfriend. Now Satou must take his slow steps into society while trying to make the ultimate ero-game with his friend and neighbour Yamazaki. It does have some serious notes on social anxiety, the difficulties coping in life and how one is supposed to live but mostly we laugh as Satou makes a fool of himself. It also has lots of culture in it, otakus, lolicon, doujinshi writing and moe, you can find out all about these Japanese things. But it still mostly sticks to pretty outlandish humour and horrible coincidences. Unfortunately the one book I have is pretty short, so it's difficult to give my opinions on the plot but it does appear to have some good potential.

Personal Preference

This is my third drama with homosexuality in it, but this time it's very different because there is no cross-dressing people, just some big misunderstandings. Jeon Jin Ho is a budding architect who wants to enter the Dam Art Gallery Project. This project is supposed to be based on the Sanggojae but this makes it very difficult for every one as the Sanggojae has always been locked to outsiders. The owner of said house is Park Gae In and after being betrayed by those closest to her she has no choice but to sublet one of her rooms. Of course, a lady living on her own couldn't rent the room  out to a man. But what if the man was gay? Then there wouldn't been a problem, so after several misunderstandings Jin Ho has to pretend to be gay to stay with Gae In. But with Gae In being such a careless loud mouth Jin Ho is constantly forced into awkward situations. Thus, start the chaos! There is also the addition of Chang Ryul and In Hee who cancelled their wedding because they both had other lovers. Trying to work out the true intentions of theese two is difficult because although Chang Ryul refuses to let go of In Hee he keeps returning to Gae In, his other lover. I'm not even going to get into the criss-crossed love square that's formed!

Another

This anime has been one of the featured shows on animedreaming for quite a while now, so, upon my sister's recommendation, I decided to watch it. It's mostly a ghost story, but it hasn't really got a ghost in it exactly. It also has some pretty unnecessary gore in it. I don't like gore or ghost, it's not really my thing at all. 26 years ago, Misaki, the all-round brilliant guy, is killed in an accident. Horribly effected by their class mates sudden death, the whole class decides to pretend she's still alive. Even the headmaster plays a long and puts an extra chair out for her during the graduation ceremony. That's weird enough, but when Misaki turns up in their group photo 9th grade class 3 can't even begin to realise what they've done. They opened 9th grade class 3 up to the world of the dead. I get a bit lost with the rest of the story, but basically every year, the 9th grade class 3 are always missing one desk and one chair because like, a dead person joins they're class or something.... And then every month a student or a member of their family die. It's not particularly clear... but that's the history of the school. Now Sakakibara is transferred into said class of terrors. Unknowing of 9th grade class 3's calamity, Sakakibara accidentally destroys the protective measure they had set in place. Know, with his class mates dying around him, Sakakibara is determined to fix such a horrible problem. Or something like that. Really, it's not clear why Sakakibara is willing to endanger himself to find the answers. The plot is very layered, but I think the writer might have had difficulties with such a plot because it seems fairly disordered. I do think it's a very interesting plot though even if some parts of the story are too far-fetched. Like how every one's memories get altered so you can't remember who the ghost in your class was and the self-altering school documents that add and remove the ghosts name.... I really don't like those bits. But the idea of a ghost in your school and not knowing who and unusual deaths and stuff, that's what makes it interesting.
Sakakibara is your average kid with lots of curiosity, fairly boring actually. But then there is Mei Misaki, she is very pretty. Her face is so blank and expressionless that she really looks like a doll. Although she is completely ignored at the beginning it is very interesting to watch her adapt to be around friends. She also appears to have an interesting story to her family, but I haven't really heard about anything yet. All her abnormalities make up for Sakakibara's boring traits. The only other character that I'm interested in is Akazawa. She's a bit of a tsundere, but I bet there's a reason that she's the Head of Countermeasures thus responsible for protecting the class against the calamity.
The art is very nice. I like the addition of all the dolls, it makes everything very creepy. Really, the whole animation is creepy, crows and flickering lights, the whole town is depicted as a place of death and decay. Very well thought out. Then there's those superbly detailed backgrounds, so pretty. There's one thing that really ruins the art: the deaths. I don't mind death scenes, but these are irrationally gross. Dismembered limbs and blood every where. If it was necessary for such gruesome deaths to take place then the use of obscure camera cuts (I find) are more effective than the exaggerative amount of blood flying everywhere.
In all honesty, I am quite open, I don't really hate any genre. But I just dislike unnecessary horrors. Sure, maybe some of you out there like watching blood pour out of someone as some sharp object is insterted into their body. But it just looks really crude to me and pulls away from the quality of the plot. Even with that, this is a good show. Short but I don't think it'd do to be any longer.

The Good, The Bad, The Weird

Look! I changed my blog!! I thought it'd make sense to use toffee colour being toffeeish and everything. What do you think? I might change it again, but it's better than the ocean don't you think?
This film is really good!! The plot is pretty simple, but it's executed so beautifully. It is inspired by 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly', but since I haven't watched that, I can't make any comparisons or anything like that! It's all based around this treasure map that EVERY one wants!!! Amongst the people who want this map are three villians that are the focus of the squabble. Really, that is the whole movie in a nutshell. But there's also the Japanese army and Chinese Bandits chasing after this map which makes for some pretty extreme battle scenes. It all starts because Yoon Tae Go stole the map on what he thought was a standard train theft, but when news gets out he finds himself running for his life all for a map. It ends with a climatic shoot out between the three of them. Winner takes all.
I did say the plot is simple!!! Of course there are some mysteries and back stories which I could tell you about... but that would spoil the film! In all truthfulness, I did get confused by said simple plot.... but only because I had some difficulties in remembering the characters names..... I'm no good with Korean names ok!

AKB0048

This anime brand spanking new!! In fact as you read this, the 9th episode is being aired in Japan so think of this as your hip and trendy anime review!
The concept behind AKB0048 is worth more than the plot. If you know the group AKB48 then you can probably get the gist of things but for those of you who don't.... Well you have some catching up to do. Basically AKB48 is the biggest icon in thee Japanese organisation, they have 64 members split into four teams and hold the Guinness World record for that! They have their own theatre where AKB48 performances are held everyday. New members are admitted as 'trainees' to stand-in for busy members before becoming fully-fledged members and old members 'graduate'. Is an idol group unlike anything in Europe and are the basis for AKB0048, so I hope you understood all that!

Broken Dolls - Reach For The Sky

Japanese. That's right, I don't just listen to Kpop! It's just that there is less Jpop! :P
I bought this at expo because a they were playing it when I walked past. The seller said they are a new Harajuku band but 'Broken Dolls' is also the name of a Harajuku fashion label and shop. All three run by Kensuke (Broken Dolls Guitarist). Now enough about Harajuku, let's talk about Reach For The Sky!
First let me say how cute the album cover is. The mess and destruction that still looks so adorable and innocent! Anyway, when I originally listened to the album I did notice that there was a lot of English, but when I looked in the lyric book I was shocked to see that ALL thee lyrics are English. Well, Engrish. Sachi is a cute singer, but her English fails her.... Most the lyrics are good enough, it's just her pronunciation!! But you have to pardon her Engrish because her cute and bubbly voice should be in Engrish.

Mirai Nikki

Dark and sinister, cruel and deceptive. Think of a mash-up between Death Note and Eden of the East. Although, instead of Gods of Death, the leader, so to speak, of this show is the God of time and space. So, this God resides in the head of a young boy, Yuki. Yuki can't get along with other people so instead he spends all his time on his phone making a diary about everything that happens around him. For his entertainment, the God of time and space gives his diary the power to see into future. In fact, 12 people each with different diaries, can now see into the future and are set the mission of killing or destroying each other's diaries. So, a battle-royale kind of scenario breaks out. It's a really interesting story because every one has different diaries so can see different parts of the past. Like Gasai Yuno, who made a diary post every 10 minutes about what Yuki was doing, now she can see every that Yuki is going to do. Now, with Yuki and Yuno allied they need to beat all the other diary holders. But with lies and deception around every corner Yuki struggles and owes his life to Yuno many times. It has got gore in it, but only when necessary, it's mostly a psychological thriller. And a very good one at that! The complete freaks and the background stories and I especially love all the unexpected twists.

SHINee - Sherlock

Yes, it's SHINee again!! Let me just say how much I freakin' love Rachel for buying this for my birthday present!!!! She even got the poster with it!! I don't care that it was late, I LOVE YOU RACHEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that I've got that out of my system I'll carry on with the review. Let's start with how amazing SHINee are, they're a  Korean, 5 member boy idol group of awesomeness and Sherlock is their 4th mini-album. After spending so much time in Japan I was expecting an album of full-blown epics, but all we got was this 7 track mini. But I'll live.
I heard the title track as soon as it came out because I'm a pretty hardcore fan and I've loved it since. The almost erotic whispering at the beginning and the explosive rap where just beyond amazing. And it has such a catchy curious. From now on, whenever I get curious about something I burst out into song. It has got a really good beat with lots of variety in it but I must ask, why does it sound like a kettle whistling in the background? It is probably my ONLY complaint about the song.

The Most Beautiful Death in the World (Kuroshitsuji Musical)

Did you know that the Japanese turn some anime and manga into musicals? No, I didn't either. (UN)Fortuantately I was set homework about musicals and when my research lead to the discovery of a Kuroshitsuji you can understand my interest. Now, I share this interest with you.
The plot is obviously derived from the original manga, Ceil loses his parents and his greatly humiliated so he summons a demon to help him get revenge. This help comes in the form of the super-butler Sebastian. (Read my Kuroshitsuji Review for a longer summary.) But the actual story of the muscial is not quite like any of the anime episodes, but more of a mix of some of the best moments with a unique twist. Ceil is ordered by the Queen to investigate the mysterious deaths of young ladies in London. Meanwhile in the Dispatch Management Headquarters every one's having to work overtime as the number of souls is not equal to the number of deaths. So also investigating these mysterious deaths are three shinigami and a Inspector from Scotland Yard. With all this murder and mystery, there is a love line too between the shinigami! There was also a tonne of humour!! Just as enjoyable and intriguing as the anime, in fact, in some ways better with the addition of gay shinigami and slapstick policemen! The plot may be re-using a lot of ideas from the manga, but it's still very fresh and surprising!!

Me Too, Flower!

This weeks k-drama is very different to any other k-drama I've watched. There's a lot of difference but basically they all stem to the age difference. Most shows I watch are about older teens, I've watched a couple with young adults, but I'm a Flower too has a heroine of 31 years old! Cha Bong Sun, officer at her local police station, feeling distressed and wronged after missing out on her promotion she's sent to counselling sessions with Hwa Young. She also finds herself having numerous encounters with Jae Hui who appears to be a valet parker and barely paying his rent. But in actual fact, he's a billionaire and secret co-founder of Perche. Representitve Pak, who founded Perche with Jae Hui has been extremely messed up since Jae Hui accidentally ran over her husband. She's also Hwa Young's cousin. You can quickly see how tangled this web of connections gets, especially when you add in Bong Sun's step-sister in who finds herself quite involved with Jae Hui, Representitve Pak and Hwa Young.

Level E

Level E is short sci-fi anime about all the aliens on earth. The problems start when an Alien prince "crashes" on earth. I put "crashes" in speech marks because after a few episodes we soon realise that the whole thing was a plan by the prince to test the loyalty of his subjects. After having so much fun on Earth, the Prince makes arrangements to become the earth's head of defence. Thus, starts the chaos. With various plans and ambitions and a head for trouble the anime is sent spiralling out of control! It's difficult to say whether this is a good thing or not, but it is certainly spontaneous. Since this series aim appears to be 'invent as many aliens as possible', it can get quite confusing in that respect as well.  Not quite knowing who's who and half guessing things. It wasn't a major problem but it's bound to happen when there's about a MILLION different aliens running about. However, the complete insanity of the series leads me to believe that it shouldn't bother me.

Kamikaze Girls

Kamikaze Girls has possibly THE greatest film opening EVER!!! Momoko gets hit by a truck, she's sent flying into the air with a load of cabbage and says farewell to her friends and family. It then comes up with 'The End'. Obviously, that wasn't the end. Momoko then rewinds all the way to 18th century France. The Rococo era. The time where the French where either sewing, or in bed. But Momoko can only dream of living in this era, as she goes on to explain. She was born into a part of Japan where everyone was born in a tracksuit, and dies in a tracksuit (as she puts it) and her father and mother met, kissed, fell pregnant then married. Thus Momoko is born. She becomes obssesed with the lolita fashion and constantly scavanged money off her father to pay for dress upon dress of lolita wonder. She goes into A LOT of detail of her life, how she sews, how she's very indiffernt and how she's an introvert. Surprisingly enough this is not boring!!

Blueberry and Milk Pocky

I had a lucky trip to China town recently, I didn't have much money but I could buy a few small treats. So I thought I'd share!
Today I have for you, the most epic Japanese snack ever. Pocky. Unfortunately small, but highly addictive. Sweet slim sticks dipped in icing flavour, with a bit left at the end to hold. Small, light and attractive, Pocky is unbelievably popular. The blueberry and milk is a mix of creamy milk powder and bits of blueberry. It costs £1.99 in Chinatown, which is the general price for the unusual flavours of pocky. But not all pocky is worth that much.

Porco Rosso

Sorry it wasn't up in time today!! Had a bit of an argument with the new blogger! Don't worry though, we've sorted it out now!
Oh, look! It's a studio ghibli film!! Hopefully this means something to you as Studio Ghibli make the greatest movies EVER. However, Porco Rosso.... Is not one of them.  Marco was a  WW1 fighter, but when he got cursed and turned into a pig he turned to free-lance bounty hunting under the name Porco Rosso. That in itself could make a good plot. But the film has NOTHING to do with Marco's WW1 fighting, or his curse. It barely has anything to do with his Bounty Hunting!! Instead the plot rambles on about... well nothing! It brushes over female rights, his flirtatious habits, pride and honour, love and rivalry but it doesn't go anywhere. In fact, by the end of the whole movie, the scene hasn't really changed at all. It was so horrifically boring I almost stopped watching it! Even with Ghibli's AMAZING art and animation; I almost gave up.
But on the topic of art and animation, I most give full marks! Ghibli never fails to impress, especially with their flying vehicles! Them boat-planes looked pretty spectacular regardless of whether they were shooting through the clouds or splashing through the waters. Even with guns blazing and planes falling apart it doesn't look ridiculous! And making a pig look like an admirable character is no mean feat! He looked more honourable than most of the humans in the film even though pigs are supposed to be horrible!!

It Started With a Kiss...

My friend has struck again!! Yup, it's another Taiwanese drama from Bte! Can "Taiwanese drama" be shortened to "T-drama"? Hmmm....
This story is actually more popular in it's Korean version, "Playful Kiss", which I was already planning to watch! Yuan Xiang Qin is from F class (the bottom of the school) and poor. Jiang Zhi Shu, is the top of A class (the best class) and decisively rich. So when Yuan Xiang Qin confessed to him it's hardly surprising that he just ignores her! To make Yuan Xiang Qin's day even better, her house is suddenly the epicentre of an earthquake that sends her house tumbling to the ground. Yeah, it's a very ridiculous first episode, but don't pass judgement yet! Her father's friend hears about the disaster and insists they stay at his house for the time being! And what do you know? Yuan Xiang Qin suddenly finds herself staying at Jiang Zhi Shu's house! It's so comically ridiculous, you have to find it entertaining! So, while Zhi Shu's mother dotes over Xiang Qin because she's always wanted a girl, Zhi Shu tries to avoid her as much as possible. Although, that's quite hard when hi parents have already made plans for their wedding. So, the plot is absolutely ridiculous, outlandish, verging on atrocious....

Peepo Choo

I have to say a thanks on this post first! My dad request I read the manga almost a month ago, and I tried and I tried, but I could not find it! But my dad, as kind as he is, ordered the manga for me. So now I have one volume of it for my collection. Thank you!!

First off, let me inform you that Peepo Choo is an 18+, so under 18's turn away now! The manga is really funny though, it shows some american kids going through that terrible phase of a weaboo. Sitting down every week to watch an episode of Peepo Choo and in their ignorrant little heads they believe Japan is just like it. A dream land where everyone is kind, everyone cosplays and everyone does the Peepo Dance to make things better, so when Milton gets the oppurtunity to go to Japan for free he immediatly goes to his anime to learn some Japanese. Meanwhile, in Japan, we see the Yakuza get out of control. After Aniki scouted Morimoto for his family he became cocky and uncontrollable, killing business partners in the most crotesque way and losing the family money. We also see what life in a Japanese school is like as Miki, who is not a blonde-haired, tanned-face beuty like the others, gets bullied in the most horrible ways. So, Melton's idea of Japan isn't quite right. He soon finds that walking around in cosplay is still weird and nobody else has learnt the Peepo dance.

Eureka Seven

Hey! Did you know it's my Birthday tomorrow?~ ;)
Eureka Seven is probably the strangest mechas I've found! There's this hobby a lot of people do in this anime, "lifting". But using specially electrically charged winds and using special boards one can essentially surf in the sky! Pretty cool, but it gets better! Robotic suits, called LFO's, can also lift, leaving a snazzy light trail behind them. Renton is one of the many who love to lift. Unfortunately, he lives in a town without the waves needed to do it properly!  But when a LFO crashes into his shed he becomes involved with the elusive lift gang, Gekkostate. He immediately falls in love with Eureka and spends all his free time trying to woo her.
It is a very simple plot! Nothing particularly shocking happens... there's not even any cliffhangers! The whole thing almost seems boring! But it boils down to being a sweet plot about Renton building relationships with all the people on the Gekkostate with somee fancy LFO fights here and there. It's hard to believe that this vaguely romance plot with fights manages to last for 50 episodes!

Hana Kimi

Ooooh this is new! A Taiwanese drama! As recommended by 'Bte'.
It's another gender-bender, but this time more serious! Lu Rui Xi deliberately disguises her self a boy to enter an all boys school all for the sake of being in the same school as Zuo Yi Quan a high jumper that Rui Xi idolises. However, by the time Rui Xi transfers she finds that Quan has already forsaken high-jumping, so, as his number 1 fan she sets about getting him back in the game. Meanwhile, in a soccer match with her new friend, Jin Xiu Yi, Rui Xi gets knocked unconscious, and when Quan lifts her to take to the sick bay he works out that she's a girl. Since they are room mates he thinks it'd be awkward if he knew so he keeps his discovery to himself and just watches Rui Xi's attempts at manliness.
Rui Xi goes through numerous trials to keep her gender a secret and Xiu Yi has to battle with his 'homosexual' feelings. Although it is quite romantic and a lot of lovey-dovey feeling develop about, it's more focused on the comedy and the problem of faking your gender. Which you may know is what I wanted more of in Coffee Prince!

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai. Yes, that is the real title of the anime. No, I do not know what it means. But I do know what it's about. Menma died young in an accident and resulted in all kinds of trauma for her five close friends. Soon after her death, the five friends drifted apart, they grow up and have little to do with one another. However, when Menma's ghost appears before Jinta they slowly get pulled back together again. It's a very short anime (only 11 episodes), but it's incredibly bitter-sweet throughout.
The art is really cute and simple. The scenes from their childhood are the cutest because they're all so tiny!! They had cute chubby faces and glistening eyes! The teenagers are not so cute. Rather they do a good job of representing the ordinary youth. However Menma is the best! She has these spectacular blue eyes and everything else is white and grey. Also for some scenes they made her outline fainter to maker her look just like a ghost. It's really cool!!

Kaze no Stigma

'Kaze no Stigma', or 'Stigma of the wind', is a really wierd anime that reminds me way too much of 11 eyes. It's set in a Japan from this kind of era where certain people have 'magic' powers. The Kannagi family are the elite Enjutsu, fire users. Kazuma was born into the head family and automatically the heir to the Kannagi family. However after being easily beaten by a 12year old girl his father disowned him. After some years training Kazuma returns to Japan as a Fuujutsu, someone who can control the wind. He proves himself by beating his father and the Kannagi heir, Ayano. However, when Kazuma's brother, Ren, gets involved in a family feud Kazuma's skills are hired to save him. From then on we basically see Kazuma get more and more jobs from the Kannagi family and watch Ayano get more and more annoyed at his involvement.

Le Portrait de Petit Cossette

This is a short review for a short manga about the beautiful Victorian girl Cossette. Eiri stumbles upon Cossette's half finished portrait while working in an antique shop and from that moment onwards he can see her and communicate with her. He becomes infatuated with her perfect looks and long to help her. Cossette's possessions hold evil intentions and she wishes to recover them all with Eiri's assitance.
The art is really pretty! Cossette is portrayed as ideally as she's supposed to be and her eyes, absolutely stunning. Such a variety of subtle expression, all as beautiful as each other. Of course, to match her Victorian charm she has the most spectacular dresses! All the other people are to boring to mention.
There's a lot of non-natrulistic art as well, for the various illusions and bits, and they are so pretty. Creepy though! The drooping sad shapes and the angry bold lines, it's all very expressive.

Coffee Prince

Coffee Prince is a Korean Drama that was highly recommended to me by my friend.
Go Eun Chan is a 24 year old from a poor family, she has to take up several part-time jobs to be able to keep a house with her shopaholic mum and younger sister. Choi Han Kyul is the polar opposite. As the son of a rich food company, he does no work and always plays around. But their paths start to cross, it brings about a very curious turn of events. Convinced that Go Eun Chan is a boy, Choi Han Kyul employs her to be his fake gay lover to avoid his grandmother's arranged dates. When his grandmother's plan to get him married fails, she decides to make him work instead. He has to renovate a local Coffee shop and make triple the investment. He employs Go Eun Chan, still convinced she's a guy, and sets to work. Mostly the show is about everyone struggling with the shop and struggling to get along with each other. But there's also this kind of side story about the guy who Go Eun Chan delivers milk to. Choi Han Seong, who just happens to be Choi Han Kyul's cousin, starts chatting with Go Eun Chan and they get along quite well, but unfortunately for Go Eun Chan, he has a girl friend. His girl friend also happens to be Choi Han Kyul's crush. So everything's a bit knotted up!

U-Kiss - Neverland

U-Kiss are a seven member boy group formed by NH media. They their second shiny CD, Neverland, and I manged to get my dad to buy it for me... I mean for my friend! It comes in a really nice and shiny hard-back book, filled with pictures and 'thank you's. There's some cool picture from back stage the music video too! In general the book is very nice because: one, shiny books are cool; and two U-Kiss are exceptionally good looking!
When the CD starts playing it has a track of pure manliness! Dramatic drums mixed with song lines kind of  manliness. This then moves on to the title track which I have been addicted to since I heard it. Neverland is such an amazing piece of music I get stuck on the replay button! The music video is top class, the snow and the dramatic close-ups, and don't even get me started on U-Kiss' amazing dance skills!! The song is so powerful and with such an epic beat it'll get stuck in your head for eternity! It also makes good use of their vocals, really low part and very high parts and some awesome harmonies. The build-up at the end fits together so well, it's genuinely amazing!!

MAR (Märchen Awakens Romance)

Oh! Look! I wrote a review that isn't horribly long! Yay!!
I added this manga to my list AGES ago because I got a free poster of it a some convention. I kept putting it off because it looked like one of those really stupid childish animes that lead people to believing anime is for kids. Well, really it probably is aimed for kids..... but I must confess, I like it.
The story is about an useless boy named Ginta. He can't do anything with his life, poor vision, below average grades and dreadful at sport. He spends all his time playing video games or dreaming. Ginta has reccuring dreams about the world of Märchen (fairy tale in German) with fairies and talking trees. His dreams of Märchen become more and more common until one day he is invited into the world of his dreams with fairies and talking trees. In this world Ginta is a completely different person. He can run fast and for longer and is stronger than the average resident of Märchen. But soon Märchen is threatened by the Chess no Korma and Ginta's love for Märchen means he can't just watch it be destroyed, he decides he has to fight! By teaming up with the friends he meets and training vigorously Ginta forms the new group against the Chess no Korma: MAR.

Brown Eyed Girls - Sixth Sense

More Korean CD reviews!! I really hope you don't mind these!!
Brown Eyed Girls are a 4 member girl group. They are under a smaller label name, NegaNetwork. This means their music is quite different to the big names in K-pop. You can hear this difference just by listening to their Intro song "Swing It Shorty". It has a interesting drum beat and a repetitive bass line and a standard through out the 1:21, but the rest of the song is completely unpredictable! The collision of humming and singing by the members almost make it sound like their in a jam session! In fact, upon releasing the album the agency did state that this is music no other girl group can imitate.
None of their songs are particularly electro and most feature a variety of brass instruments. The only track that has obviously has a synthesiser in it is Love Motion. Although no matter how much the song sounds like a remix they style sing in the same soulful style that they have through out the album!
