Sky Blue

I think Sky Blue was amazing. It's an animated film set in a distant future after a catastrophic environmental disaster.  To escape from said disaster the 'elites' made a sanctuary named 'Ecoban'. Those who weren't elite where forced to live outside Ecoban and work hard to supply power to the city, as diggers. They were cruelly treated and over-worked, so, of course rebellion's would start.
The movie is based around one particular rebellion by an ex resident of Ecoban. The whole plot is actually quite long for an animated movie so you'll just have to watch it yourself if you want to know what happens. But I think it was quite good, there wasn't any particularly shocking parts. But it was entertaining.

The characters in Ecoban where all boring I found them to be rather lifeless. But the rebels living in the slums were pretty awesome. They bought about individuality. Crazy hair styles, customized clothes and a bad-ass attitudes to match! But my favourite character would have to be the little boy. A little orphan boy that our lead male looks after. His a really kind little boy with the cheesiest grin you ever did see!
Now, we move onto the bit I was most looking forward to writing about: the art. It's absolutely stunning! The very first scene (a motorbike riding through derelict landscapes in the rain) was on the same level of animation as Final Fantasy VII. And that is definitely a compliment! But as soon as you start seeing the people of Ecoban your back to a fairly standard looking anime style, still lovely, but normal. Throughout the anime it combines the impressive looking 3-D style with the much-loved traditional style making it a feast for the eyes despite your preferences. It's really no surprise it took 7 years to make. I would say watch it for it's art if nothing else!
Definitely an amazing anime  if you pull it all together then the average plot suddenly seems a lot better! I definitely recommend it, especially if your the type who pays attention to anime art.
